The Villa Kuro Collection

2022

The Villa Kuro Collection was photographed in Joshua Tree, CA in 2021.

I feel a deep connection between my practice and the environment that I am in. I cherish home as an idea that it is a place not only of comfort and serenity but also control. It is my haven against the unpredictability and lurking chaos of the outside world. This sense of clarity and order is something that I look to bring forth in my work. Through the minimal simplicity of my weavings I aim to bring that sense of calm and comfort into other spaces as well. It is through this mindset, and with a nod to tapestry making, that my weaving came about. The method for weaving is very repetitive and time consuming but to me, it brings a sense of zen. I feel that I am a part of a tradition that generations before me have done, working with thread, working with their hands. It is my goal to carry on this tradition, but in a new way.
